about Anika Scott
If I had ten lives, I'd look forward in my next incarnations to being a lounge singer, civil engineer, painter, benevolent despot, nun, antiquarian, new media mogul, football (soccer) star, and quality controller in a chocolate factory.
I was born in Illinois, raised in suburban Detroit, and got my bachelors in international relations from Michigan State University. After getting my masters degree in journalism from Columbia University, I cut my reporting teeth at the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Chicago Tribune.
Today, I'm living the expat life in Germany, my chosen home since 2000. Besides freelancing, I've taught block seminars in applied journalism at the Technical University in Chemnitz.
On the personal side, my husband is a German psychotherapist specializing in addiction therapy. My little daughter is a constant reminder of the simple joy of life, and an example of the will to live. My cat, born in New York City and former resident of Philadelphia and Chicago, may be one of the most traveled house pets in the world.
These pages, and most everything I do, are dedicated to my first daughter. May your heart beat 100 years.
